Glu Mobile Signs Taylor Swift To Develop Her Own Mobile Game
Glu Mobile has announced that they have signed a multi-year partnership deal with Grammy award winning songstress Taylor Swift, to develop a mobile game in her name.
It seems the ink on the contract had barely had time to dry before announcing the game. There is not a whole lot of information about the game, besides describing it as "a new, one-of-a-kind digital gaming experience." Glu Mobile also states that Taylor will be involved with the development of the game. This will be Swift's first game, though she did win a 2015 Emmy for Best Original Interactive Program for her AMEX Unstaged: Taylor Swift Experience.
"[...]I am thrilled to welcome Taylor Swift, an award-winning singer, musician and songwriter, to Glu’s family,” said Niccolo de Masi, Glu Chairman and CEO. “We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience,” continued de Masi. “Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved.”
Glu Mobile is not a stranger to creating games for celebrities. After the overwhelming success of their first celebrity game with Kim Kardashian in 2013 which netted over $43 million in three months, despite her husband disliking microtransactions. Since then they have signed celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, the Jenner sisters, and Katy Perry. In early August 2015 the mobile developer signed their first male celebrity, actor Jason Statham.
The game is currently scheduled to be released later this year, and more details at a later date.
