Go 8-bit in World of Tanks

Wargaming have announced that the latest game mode for World of Tanks, presumably for a limited time, will be Winter Showdown.

Winter Showdown is an 8-bit mode with mega platoons, featuring 5 players instead of 3. As such there are different match setups: 2 mega platoons vs. 2 mega platoons or 10 vs. 10 in random.

There are also three exclusively designed tanks:

[...] the Mammoth heavy tank, the Polar Bear Tank Destroyer, and the Arctic Fox light tank. Each of these three tanks has a clearly designed role on the battlefield: the Mammoth is a close-quarters tank; the Polar Bear is a long-range, sniper vehicle; the Arctic Fox is quick, scouting tank.

As well as new special gold rounds which are capable of healing your comrades.

Gamers who do well in Winter Showdown mode will get a new medal: Operation Winter.

Winter Showdown will be available in the Korean Republic on 15th January, rolling out to the rest of the world 26th January.
