GOG Shows Off Importance of Community Wishlist with Latest Beloved JRPG Revival
GOG's mission is at an all-time high in terms of importance, as their GOG Preservation Program is a boon to gamers who want to be able to own their titles in an industry that's growing increasingly hostile to that ideology. Promising not only to bring back old classics in a fully playable state, Good Old Games also gives players the opportunity to own their games with offline launchers and installers, meaning that once you buy it, it's yours forever.
The GOG Preservation Program hopes to fight back against the unattainability of many of the titles. A shocking statistic found in a study about classic videogames shows that 87% of the titles released in the US are no longer commercially available, a number that GOG is trying to fight back against to the best of its ability.
To date, GOG Preservation Program now has 162 total titles available, but the team isn't stopping there. In the most recent success story from the team, a classic favourite JRPG title that was previously unavailable is now officially back, with improvements befitting a more modern release whilst still preserving its retro style.

CAPCOM's Breath of Fire IV released on the 27th of April in the year 2000, and it has been unattainable for quite a while. Ironically, the games' entire original soundtrack featuring 67 nostalgic songs is available on Steam, but the actual gameplay has been inaccessible for quite some time... until GOG stepped in.
Breath of Fire IV is proof of the importance of the GOG Dreamlist, a community-run wishlist where players can share their love for titles that are no longer accessible. Garnering a staggering 23,041 votes before its launch, it proudly takes its seat as one of the highest-ever voted titles in the Dreamlist, beaten only by LucasArts' 1995 Full Throttle Remastered.
Keen on helping out? Don't miss out on your chance to pick up the newly released Breath of Fire IV on GOG to vote with your wallet. Or, if you're interested in helping get your favourite game to GOG, then you can do so via the Dreamlist!
