Grimshade — The First Turn-Based RPG Featuring a Sniping Badger
Party-based tactical RPGs so often draw from the same pool of inspiration that they can seem to blur together in a swirling mess of stats, mana and XP bars. Talerock's Grimshade brings a little variety to the often derivative genre with a few key twists. Originally released on PC in 2019 and coming to Switch 25th July, Grimshade presents a genuinely unique fantasy world portrayed in a striking hand-painted style, led by a talking, sniper rifle-wielding badger and an accompanying party of six comrades. Check out the Switch launch trailer above.

Throughout the game's healthy 20-hour length, Grimshade will introduce players to the world of Ree'fah, using a diverse range of turn-based tactics and character abilities they'll fight off monstrous hordes and colossal invading armies. Character progression is tied to equipment, as such, there'll be plenty of loot to acquire for each of the seven distinct party members (yes, that means badger armour).

Not every game can turn a genre on its head, and Grimshade certainly won't do so for the story-based tactical RPG, but it does look to bring a confident art style, some interesting systems and an engaging world to players for a relatively reasonable price.
Check out Grimshade when it releases on Switch 25th June for £17.99.
