Hitman Online Save Issue Unfixable by Design?
If you've been following news on Square Enix's latest big budget title, HITMAN (2016), then you'll no doubt have noticed that it's attracted a bit of backlash from fans along the way. As well as some porting issues experienced by some users, the save system has caused a degree of controversy. The game is designed to be always online, with online saves not syncing locally. This means that players were finding themselves losing progress during server or connection hiccups as the game kicks you back to the menu screen if connection is lost.
In a statement to gaming website Eurogamer, the developer gave bad news for those that were hoping this was as issue that would be resolved.
"When we announced Hitman, we explained to fans and to gamers everywhere how we are creating a live game. This is a constantly evolving, living world of assassination, that will grow alongside the community with frequent content updates in between the launch of each location. This live content includes new contracts, escalation contracts, elusive targets, and even additional challenges.
"It is possible to enjoy the locations offline, but in order to ensure player-progress of the live content is correct and up to date, the save states for online and offline are kept separate."
Does this mean that there will never be an option to sync progress onlnie and offline? We don't know for certain as it doesn't say that explicitly, but it certainly implies it. If this were true, then a lot of Hitman fans are going to be particularly disappointed
