IGN Fires Editor-In-Chief
Steve Butts, editor-in-chief of IGN has been fired according to a report published by Kotaku.
“IGN initiated an investigation into alleged misconduct involving Steve Butts. As a result of the investigation, the Company has appropriately determined to part ways with Mr. Butts,” said IGN general manager Mitch Galbraith.
This news comes not long after a former IGN employee Kallie Plagge went public about her time working at IGN including allegations that fellow former editor Vince Ingenito had sexually harassed her in the workplace. When this was reported to the human resources department she claims the site threatened to fire her if she didn't sign a document stating it was her that had acted inappropriately.
After this event IGN held meetings to allow people to voice any concerns and "fix what is broken" according to a statement released at the time. During one of those meetings someone accused Steve Butts and since then the investigation happened. Now though it has been confirmed that Steve Butts and the company have parted ways. Steve Butts has not commented on the news as of yet.
Until a new Editor-in-Chief is hired, Peer Schneider will be filling the role until then.
