Insurgency: Sandstorm's Operation Nightfall Update — What's New?

The latest and greatest update for New World Interactive's tactical, multiplayer first-person shooter, Insurgency: Sandstorm, has arrived on PC. Titled Operation Nightfall, the free update's main focus (as the title suggests) brings a nighttime variant of every in-game map, playable in both PvE and PvP game modes. There's a lot more to dig into with this shooter sequel's largest ever update though. Check out the launch trailer above and read on to find out more.

Introducing 'Tideway', a brand-new map inspired by the location 'Buriz' from the original Insurgency. Set in a derelict desert town alongside a riverbank, the map centres around the town's bridge as a focal point for visceral, close-quarters skirmishes. Just like every other map following the Operation Nightfall update, Tideway also brings a daytime and nighttime variant.

In addition, five new weapons and four new night-vision goggles join the existing lineup—again—completely for free. The Grease Gun, Sterling, Honey Badger, Welrod and AS Val (the new guns) promise to expand players' options in how they tackle the tactical challenges presented by players and AI. Speaking of which, Insurgency: Sandstorm's AI has been improved in response to light, dark and night-vision technology.

Operation Nightfall for Insurgency: Sandstorm is out now completely free for PC in addition to a new slate of paid cosmetic DLC packs.
