KickStarter hopeful: Rides With Strangers

Why would you ever take a ride with a stranger in real life? Every bit of common sense will tell you not to. You have cabs, buses, cellphones to call for favors, you have no excuse to go ask people you don't know for a ride. If you have ever wanted to actually ask random strangers for a ride now you can with Reflect Studios game, Rides With Strangers.

You play as a young woman who has everything going for her. On one lucky evening she receives a email notification for her dream job, all she has to do is complete one more interview and she will secure her position. Though the job is on the other side of the state for her, she is willing to put up with such inconveniences to achieve her dream.

Unfortunately halfway during her trip her 23 year old car breaks down. Nothing will stop her however and she waits at the side of the road with her thumb up, she will be ok right?

What first caught our eye is that one of this games goals is to scare the player in real life as well. According to the KickStarter:

"Will you be prepared to face them knowing that these horrors could very well exist within your real waking world? Will you be able to put down this game and return to your regular life, watching strangers pass, knowing this could happen to you?"

This game's main focus is on dialogue and realism. Gameplay focuses on keeping yourself feeling comfy in the car by looking at the driver as well as picking dialogue options. When you progress conversation you can learn more about the individual though some things may best be left unsaid.

While the concept demo that is available for download only has one stranger in the game that will pick you up, the KickStarter page lists others that will come to the game. These individuals have been crafted to be as realistic to the bad people you may meet in today's world. No scare comes from supernatural elements.
