League of Legends Releases Dev Doodles Talking About the Process of ARAM Development

2025 has been a bit of a cultural year for Riot Games. Changing the way Seasons work, bringing back fan-favourite game modes and maps, and now, we've received the opportunity to check out Dev Doodles, a returning series from a four-year dormancy state.

Dev Doodles is the opportunity that Rioters take to talk about some things on the works or explaining why the process of some things come to be. The four episodes up to this point had been talking about an array of things, like balancing, Clash, K/DA, and even one about Sylas.

This latest one is touching on the history and story of one of the most-famous League of Legends game modes, and the only other permanent one available in the game: ARAM. The five-minute doodle gives us an idea of how things work in the Thunderdome, what challenges the game mode had, and the one small tweak that made it all viable and fun.

This video gives us a bit of insight about how one of the biggest game modes comes to be, and it offers a look at the tonal change going on at Riot Games. From focusing more on casual game modes to reverting controversial changes, the studio may not be a saint in terms of some of its more controversial approaches, but at least this cultural shift is going in a positive direction.

This is all, of course, a part of the marketing strategy for the next upcoming seasonal game mode: ARAM Mayhem. If you'd like to learn more about the Wild Rift game mode coming to League of Legends, you can learn more about that in our news piece right here.

Otherwise, you can find the Dev Doodle above to get a bit of insight about the process of game development, and how everyone's favourite bridge (bridges?) came to be. Including a section about Poros, because who doesn't love those fluffy snowballs?
