Learn More About Cognition Europe’s Lunar Strike
Lunar Strike is the debut title of the indie studio, Cognition Europe. Having been revealed as part of the Future Games Show at gamescom 2025, we’ve learned a little bit more about what you can expect from this sci-fi adventure.
The main focus of Lunar Strike is the narrative; more character-driven storytelling over combat. Your goal is to survive, as you play as a tech-augmented archivist who is there to preserve evidence of humanity’s presence on the Moon before it collapses and is destroyed.
You’ll need to navigate the base as it deteriorates around you, where you’ll need to prioritise which real-world historical artefacts are to be saved or sacrificed to the void of time.
With a focus on the ethical questions of legacy, memory, and responsibility, players like you will be met with some difficult challenges ahead as you try to preserve the archive. By making a choice, you could change outcomes, of which each is driven by your own decisions and values.
As part of this, Lunar Strike won’t have combat, but will focus on survival. Specifically, how much time you have left to make your decisions and preserve as much as you can. It’s also fully grounded in hard science, with space researchers being involved in the development process. You’ll find realistic systems, 1/6th lunar gravity, toxic Moon dust, and more real-world physics.
The story itself is rooted by actual heritage efforts with the creators having backgrounds in cultural preservation and storytelling. So, you’ll find that there will be no shortage of 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and archival logic in the process of the archival process.
Set for a planned release in 2026, you can add Lunar Strike to your wishlist now to keep updated. It will be available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
