Legacy Controls Leaving Fornite with the Next Update
The legacy controls of Fortnite will be leaving us on 13th of March, Epic Games announced in Fornite's game news and over Twitter. The removal was needed because of the advantage some players had with aim assist. Using a gamepad is slower and less accurate than those using a PC keyboard and mouse, but the aim assist was created to help close the gap. Unfortunately, some players discovered a way to keep tabs on players even through smoke, walls, and other general barriers.
Fortnite added the patch back in October that included legacy settings. It was here that Epic Games tried to get players into the new control schemes. Fans weren't as excited as Epic was. Players can protect their controller settings by using (Copy from legacy) in the controller options menu and then clicking (use legacy look controls) off.
With the improvements we’ve made to Aim Assist, we plan to remove the “Use Legacy Look Controls” setting on March 13.
