LEGO Dimensions Announced
Social media got a few #BreakTheRules last night, along with LEGO-themed teaser images. Notably The LEGO Movie Twitter and the Back to the Future Trilogy Facebook page, as well as Batman and Lord of the Rings pages. LEGO even posted this video to Instagram.
Well - LEGO and TT Games have announced LEGO Dimensions!
It will be an NFC-toy-based game just like Skylanders and Disney Infinity, enabling you to put toys on the Toy Pad to send them into the game by sending them through a gateway on a quest to save their friends.
The confirmed franchises involved are: Lord of the Rings, DC Comics, The LEGO Movie, The Wizard of Oz, LEGO Ninjago, and - as you might have guessed - Back to the Future.
In September you can get your hands on the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack, which includes the videogame, a LEGO Toy Pad, bricks to build the LEGO Gateway, three minifigs - Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle), as well as the LEGO Batmobile.
Also announced are some Level Packs, Team Packs, and Fun Packs, giving you more figures, vehicles and game content. Here's what the press release says:
A small sample of packs available in 2015 include the Back to the Future Level Pack with a LEGO Marty McFly minifigure, a LEGO Ninjago Team Pack with Kai and Cole minifigures, three Ninjago Fun Packs with Jay, Nya and Zane minifigures, two DC Comics Fun Packs with Wonder Woman and Cyborg minifigures, three The Lord of the Rings Fun Packs with LEGO Gollum, LEGO Gimli and LEGO Legolas minifigures, four The LEGO Movie Fun packs with Emmet, Bad Cop, Benny and Unikitty characters, and a The Wizard of Oz Fun Pack with a LEGO Wicked Witch of the West minifigure.
LEGO Dimensions is coming 29th September for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U.

So, are they going to be LEGO mini-figs or slighty bigger? No matter how awesome the advert was... I'm still none the wiser

I imagine standard size, and the stands have the chips in.
