Let's Recap 10th December's State of Play Stream

This year’s final State of Play livestream has arrived, opening up the floodgates for a fresh torrent of upcoming releases, reveals and announcements. Those who missed it can check out the archived stream in the video above. For a quick run-down of the announcements, read on:

Untitled Goose Game - The smash-hit mischievous goose simulator from House House will release on PlayStation 4 17th December.

SpellBreak - A third-person, ability-based “spell ‘em up” that looks to be bringing a new twist to the multiplayer battle royale genre. It’ll be entering closed-beta in Spring 2020.

Dreams - Media Molecule’s shows off the possibilities of Dreams’ expansive creation toolkit and reveals a release date of 14th February 2020 (the game was available via early access between 16th April - 7th December this year).

Superliminal - This perspective shifting brain-buster is coming to PlayStation 4 next year.

Paper Beast - PlayStation VR will be blessed with this vibrant yet minimalist, paper-based sandbox that lets players manipulate wildlife, physics and the world’s properties. Coming to PlayStation VR Q1 2020.

Kingdom Hearts III ReMind DLC - Final Fantasy once again crosses paths with Kingdom Hearts in this highly anticipated DLC. Set to release 23rd January 2020.

Predator: Hunting Grounds - A closer look at the previously announced four-on-one Predator game shows a range of different predator ‘classes’ with various attributes and skills, including one —presumably— female hunter. Planned for release 24th April 2020.

Babylon’s Fall - The next release from Platinum Games and Square Enix gives away little except for more of the stylish, endlessly fun combat the studio is adored for. Flashes of vibrant blue and red stand out amongst a generally drab colour palette in this trailer. No news on a release date or window, however more information is teased for next summer.

Resident Evil 3 remake - To the surprise of nobody, Resident Evil 3 is officially getting the same remake treatment as its predecessor. This reveal trailer gives us a peek at protagonists Jill and Carlos; Nemesis the... erm, nemesis; and some gameplay snippets. The Resi announcements don’t end here though, Project Resistance: the previously teased spinoff game has been confirmed as the multiplayer mode for Resident Evil 3’s remake, offering an asymmetrical, four-on-one multiplayer experience. Both announcements will launch in the same Resident Evil 3 package on 3rd April 2020.

Not an announcement per se, but this State of Play was wrapped up (well, almost) by a heartfelt statement of gratitude from Ken Kutaragi, former PlayStation CEO. In the pre-recorded statement, he gives thanks for 25 years of the PlayStation brand’s continued success and praises the fans for helping gaming mature and reach a more diverse audience.

Ghost of Tsushima- Of course, it wouldn’t be an announcement livestream without a ‘one more thing’ announcement, would it? This time, Sony put a neat bow on the State of Play stream with a Ghost of Tsushima teaser. It doesn’t give much away, but the brief trailer is enough to soak in the game’s striking art style and atmosphere. “To be continued” are the words that cap off the trailer; The Game Awards on 12th December will feature a full-length trailer and hopefully provide some more information on Sucker Punch’s samurai epic.
