Luma Island Celebrates First Major Content Update Since Launch
Feel Free Games' Luma Island launched back on the 20th of November 2024. Since then, the adventure farming sim has seen an all-time peak of 35,000 players joining in on the fun, with more than 600,000 farmers engaging with the game one way or another.
It's been a few months since the full launch, but the team is still looking to expand on the experience for those who wish to play more. Announced a while back was the Pirate update that would be making its debut, bringing with it a slew of features (and though it had a controversial cross-save incompatibility, it has since been fixed).
Fans have been obviously ecstatic to engage with more Luma Island, and it's no secret that DLC-sized free content updates are very welcome in the industry. So, the team is proud to announce that the update is officially out now.

Here's everything that's new with Luma Island: Pirates:
- A new layout for the farm, making building your dream home much easier than in the previous one.
- A brand-new pirate-themed location to explore, which you'll be able to revisit throughout the entire game (rather than a post-game addition)
- New haunted ruins added to the Forest, Mountain, and Jungle, with shuffled puzzles in the same environments.
- Two construction projects in the pirate cove, bringing in new outfits.
- Three unique game modes to accommodate for different player times: Cozy Mode, Adventure Mode, and Hero mode.
- Six new mini-games.
- A string of new quests taking place in the Pirate Cove.
- A new Shipwright Profession.
- A slew of new NPCs, with two new pirate captains, eight new PIrate Crew, one new Shipwright NPC, and two new enemy types.
- Pirate-themed house.
- Three new Lumas to uncover.
- A new Luma ability system, where each one can be either a Water Luma, Earth Luma, Nature Luma, Rock Luma, or Lost Luma, offering different bonuses.
- A new way to create Lumas.
- A slew of new outfits, including a new Explorer outfit exclusive to previous players before the free expansion.
- New clothing.
- New Emotes.
- Map system overhaul (including a new full-screen map).
- New trail system to get to quests with ease.
- New pins added to multiplayer lobbies to help communication between players.
- Balancing adjustments.
- Extra miscellaneous things (like a spooky pirate ship at the Pirate Cove).
- 20 new achievements, while also removing difficulty-specific achievements for accessibility.
- Five new languages for localisation: Polish, Arabic, Dutch, Turkish, and Latin-American Spanish.
Yes, Luma Island's newest update is indeed DLC-sized, and you didn't read wrong when we mentioned it was entirely free-to-play. You can enjoy the new content by simply picking the base game and exploring the new profession, area, and all of the items mentioned above (plus more!).
