Major League Gaming Purchased by Activision Blizzard?
E-Sports website Sports Observer has reported on an alleged deal between Activision Blizzard and MLG. The publishing giant have apparently spent $46 million to purchase all assets of the league. If the rumours prove to be true then it will also see the replacement of Sundance DiGiovanni by Greg Chisholm, MLG’s former CFO.
At this stage, we've been unable to verify the story. There's been no official statement from either company and no significant change in share prices to back it up. With the article being published on New Years Day however, this may not come as a huge surprise.
MLG have had a number of issues of late and this is not an entirely unexpected development if true. The company hold a large amount of debt and have been losing traction with a number of publishers hosting their own e-sports events as well as rival ESL growing in popularity. We will bring you more details on this breaking story as they emerge.

MLG has always been in decline since they've struggled to get rid of all of those Mountain Dew/Doritos affiliation problems. People will forever see them as the brand for dickheads on Call of Duty.
