Mass Effect Legendary Edition Announced
It's official: a modernisation of the original Mass Effect trilogy will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5 and PC, complete with 4K textures, reworked assets, smooth framerates and every single piece of DLC ever released for the three games. Titled Mass Effect Legendary Edition, the game is planned for a spring 2021 release.
The news comes from the BioWare blog, where Casey Hudson, the studio's General Manager, wrote enthusiastically about the upcoming Mass Effect Legendary Edition, referring to it as a modernisation, not a remake.
Additionally, Hudson confirms that a "veteran" team in BioWare has begun work on "the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe", although his language suggests that development is in extremely early stages.

Questions remain regarding the unaddressed rumours of a Mass Effect Switch re-release. Whether there's another announcement planned, perhaps during a Nintendo Direct, remains to be seen. Until now, we can rest easy in the knowledge that this beloved intergalactic epic is waking from its Andromeda-induced slumber.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is planned for a spring 2021 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with forward-compatibility enhancements in the works for Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5.
