Microsoft Details Upcoming Xbox One Summer Update Features

Microsoft have started revealing what is to come in the Summer Update for Xbox One and the Xbox App on Windows 10. These features are starting to roll out this week for members to the Xbox One Preview program before going out to the whole user base soon.

Cortana is the main headline feature for Xbox One owners, bringing the useful personal assistant from Windows 10 and Windows Phone over to the console. Bringing useful voice commands to everyone regardless of if you have Kinect or not. Microsoft have made Cortana work even if you only have a chat headset.

Using Cortana you'll be able to form parties, see what friends are playing, start games and a whole lot more without having to bring up the dashboard or leave what you are doing.

Other Xbox One features include better sorting and usability for the Game Collection area, it now shows games vertically rather than horizontally and allows access to your Ready to Install titles from the main menu. There are also changes to sharing and the Facebook Friend Finder is making it's way from the Xbox App.

Speaking of the Xbox App, changes coming to Windows 10 users are mostly centred around the GameDVR game clip recording and management system, making editing and sharing easier as well as improving fullscreen game support for the GameBar.

Changes to the store will affect both platforms with Microsoft working towards joining the Windows Store and the Xbox Store, adding filters and reviews. They are also adding Game Hubs on Xbox Live for "Top PC Games" as well as other PC gaming support so you'll be able to see what your friends are playing regardless of where they are playing it.
