Minecraft Hits 12 Million Sales on Xbox 360

As of this past Friday, Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition has surpassed 12 million sales. This also means that the game has sold 2 million copies since last December, showing that it still has a strong weekly sales rate. 

The console version is only narrowly behind the PC edition, which was announced to have 14.3 copies sold this past February. 

Regarding the success of the game, Mojang's Daniel Kaplan commented:

It is pretty amazing! I remember when we started talking about sales numbers that we would be super happy to sell 1 million copies. That would have put us on par with BF1943 and Castle Crashers, which both are awesome games, so that was something to aim for. We never even dreamed of selling 12 million.

The future still looks bright for Minecraft, with PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions all announced in August 2013 and still on the horizon.
