Mobile Games Out This Week: 6/1/17

We spend all week scrounging around for cool new iOS and Android game releases. Then, every Friday, we put together a list of them to share with you. How awesome is that?

Hint: it’s pretty awesome.

Just so you know, it’s not an exhaustive list. Rather, it covers the games that most stand out to us. Enjoy this week’s games!

Don't Starve: Shipwrecked (iOS)

Shipwrecked released last week, but there weren’t enough new releases to write a post so it’s here this week. It expands on the bits and pieces that make Don’t Starve an enjoyable (if somewhat daunting and repetitive) experience. Shipwrecked drops you onto a tropical map of death where you’ll meet new creatures that will kill you, explore new environments that will kill you, and endure new seasons that will kill you.

Also, just a warning: it looks like there's been a lot of crashing and other technical issues. It might not be a bad idea to hold off until it's all sorted out.

 

Crowntakers (iOS)

Alright, alright — I’m cheating again. Crowntakers actually released last spring, but only for the iPad. Now it’s available for iPhones, too. Crowntakers combines roguelike elements with classic SRPG gameplay. There are multiple endings, several classes to try, mercenary companions to recruit, and much more.

 

Milkmaid of the Milky Way (iOS)

You're Ruth, you live in early 20th century Norway, and you have a lot of cows. Admittedly, it's not the most interesting premise...until a spaceship arrives and the real fun begins. Milkmaid of the Milky Way is a point and click adventure game with plenty of puzzles to solve and areas to explore. It also features 100% rhyming dialogue (maybe not a positive, but whatever) and original soundtracks.

 

Castle Creeps TD (iOS, Android)

In Castle Creeps TD, you'll be doing more of what you tower defense fans already love. You'll get to unlock and level up badass heroes as you fend off hordes of brutal beasts and build the ultimate tower defense layout. Plus, it'll be updated regularly with new content that includes heroes, story chapters, and monsters.

 

Breakout Ninja (iOS)

In Breakout Ninja, you'll guide an auto-running ninja through one gorgeous environment after another. It's pretty simple in that the only input you have is tapping each time your ninja lands in a circle, but the speed and circles multiply as you go. It might be low on lasting appeal, but it should provide some short-term fun.
