Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Launches to Mixed User Reception

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Launches to Mixed User Reception

It's been a tough few years for Mortal Kombat fans, as the titles have been missing the mark or not meeting the expectations set before them (such as promised years of content that never came). Now, the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is available on all major consoles, and though its critic reception was astounding (meeting critically acclaimed status on most consoles), audiences haven't been as thrilled.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection launched on the 30th of October, though its pre-order period began with a 10% discount on the 15th of September, pricing the game for just £37.79. Now that it's out, the price has increased to £41.99, putting it just £13.00 more expensive than the Definitive Edition of the Mortal Kombat 1 experience.

There are tons of promises for old-school fans of Mortal Kombat in the Legacy Kollection11 classic Mortal Kombat titles to try out, an interactive documentary detailing the story, and some extra additions like online functionality. And though it's delivered on these promises, the performance of some of these, such as the online play, has left players wanting.

The release saw Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection get a 5.6 average user score on Metacritic from 40 user ratings (in comparison to the 85, 78, and 88 of the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S versions, respectively). But it's even worse over on Valve's Steam platform: 601 reviews, of which 54% of them are negative, netting it a Mixed score at the time of writing.

The main complaints are about the pricing, seeing as the title has launched with input lag, no private matches, and the broken releases that have plagued 2025. Even some of the top positive reviews state that some of the single-player versions have input lag, and that it's an unfair deal to anyone who paid for all of the experiences.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is out now for £41.99 on all major consoles: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam.
