New Bandai Namco Trademarks Might Lead to Remasters of Klonoa and More
Bandai Namco has recently trademarked five new titles in Japan with the term “encore” being included, which may lead to some remasters of a handful of classic titles. For context, Katamari Damacy Reroll which launched in late 2018 was a remaster of Katamari Damacy, and was titled Katamari Damacy Encore in Japan.
The list of trademarked titles is:
- Genpei Touma Den Encore
- Klonoa Encore
- Mr. Driller Encore
- Splatter House Encore
- Wagyan Land Encore
Wagyan Land and Splatter House were originally arcade titles released in the 80’s, while Genpei Touma Den was originally released for the Famicom (NES in Japan). What’s most interesting about Wagyan Land and Genpei Touma Den is that these two titles have never received a Western release, meaning that these remasters might be the first time they ever get released outside of Japan, assuming they will be released for the West.
Klonoa and Mr. Driller both released for the original PlayStation, with the two gaining a somewhat dedicated Western followings.
Right now it’s anyone’s guess if we’ll see Western releases, however it does seem like Bandai Namco are going through with these remasters.
