Nintendo Adds Two-Step Authentication For Online Accounts

Nintendo Adds Two-Step Authentication For Online Accounts

Good news for those who have been thinking about the security of their online accounts on Nintendo Switch as Nintendo has added two-step verification.

This means that Nintendo Accounts can now use the extra layer of security on their accounts as an optional feature through the Google Authenticator app. If used, the feature requires users to enter a six-digit code that is generated by the Google Authenticator app every time they log into their Nintendo account. Though not a complete foolproof system it does make it harder for people to access your account as they need both the code and your smartphone to gain entry.

This brings Nintendo up to the same standard as other companies who have been using two-step authentication for some time. Sony added it to the PlayStation Network around a year ago with Microsoft having added it back in 2014. Blizzard are of course the leaders as they have been using two-step authentication in some form or another since 2009.
