Nintendo Denies Wii U Production is Ending
A report from Japanese newspaper Nikkei earlier today suggested that the production of Nintendo's current home console, the Wii U, would soon be stopping as the company moves towards the manufacturing of the NX, though Nintendo were quick to quell these rumours.
A translated version of the Nikkei story suggests that the Wii U will cease production before the end of 2016, naming the console's poor sales as a key factor, but also stating that the console was notoriously difficult to develop for.
Nikkei reports that companies that produce some parts for the consoles have already ended the production of certain components, although this is not unusual after four years on the market as newer, cheaper parts become available.
A Nintendo spokesperson said:
“This isn’t an announcement from our company. From the next quarter and thereafter as well, production is scheduled to continue.”
The Wii U launched in 2012, a year before the release of Sony and Microsoft's most recent consoles, but failed to hit the heights of it's predecessor, the Wii, selling a mere 12 million units.

I know it's not the best console at the moment, hell it's not even one of Nintendo's better efforts, but I still like my Wii U and I'd be sad to see it die. Even thought realistically I know it's not long for this world.
