Nintendo Switch Resetting Game Times After One Year

Nintendo Switch Resetting Game Times After One Year

Recently it has been brought to light that on the one year anniversary of the Nintendo Switch users are seeing their game time reset.

As users are able to go to their profile page and see the amount of time they have put into a game is a feature loved by many. Having the information reset is, as you might expect, upsetting some owners. One user on Reddit however by the name of VOOK64 pointed out the following:

Looks like Nintendo's code is only looking for the day and month you last played the game and figuring out the time since then. It's ignoring the year.

It doesn't know you started March 3rd 2017, just March 3rd so 0 days ago.

If this is the case then hopefully players will see a fix put out by Nintendo but currently there is no official word on what is happening or if there is a solution. Given that the Nintendo 3DS would keep a lifelong record of your playtime for each title and your daily step counter it seems rather silly that Nintendo wouldn't implement a similar design into the Switch.

Why not tell us your most played title below before your data resets?
