Nvidia G-Sync Integrated Monitors Coming Q2 2014
At a CES presenstation in Las Vegas yesterday Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang announced that Acer, AOC, ASUS, BEnQ, Philps and ViewSonic amongst others will be releasing G-Sync enabled monitors.
G-Sync takes the form of a module that can be built into a monitor or installed onto an existing display, and the chip works with the hardware and software in GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost or better graphics cards.
Instead of syncing a GPU to a monitor, G-Sync does it the other way around: The monitor only refreshes after the GPU has finished rendering a frame. According to Nvidia, keeping the monitor in sync with the GPU reduces screen tearing, stuttering and input lag, which are the banes of gamers worldwide.
Modules were shipped out to professional modders last year for installation into Asus VG248QE monitors but this is the first time we have heard who will be making the pre-installed units.
