Oculus Announces its first VR Headset out this year

It's not the release of the Oculus Rift for PC - it is, in fact, the announcement that Samsung and Oculus have partnered to create the first VR headset design exclusively for the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The screen less headset is designed to slot-in the new Note 4. With the 5.7” display of the Note 4 you can enjoy a wide variety of VR features. It’s got an impressive design, providing a 96 degree field of view running at 60hz, and with the Note 4 screen being crazy a 2560x1440 (WQHD) and a 515 PPI (Pixels per inch) it’s doubtful you’ll see any pixelation when viewing your videos, picture or playing a game.

The team behind the software of the new VR is lead by John Carmack, a legend in programming and has been with Oculus for sometime since his departure from id software.

Fear not, while this is a rather unusual move for Oculus it doesn’t mean they’re going focus on mobile VR, they’re still hard at work making the Oculus Rift (The PC VR headset) better and the move to creating a mobile VR headset is merely to widen the audience.

It may well be a bit of a gimmick but we wouldn’t be surprised if there will be soon a wide selection VR games and apps coming and if it’s successful perhaps maybe more manufactures will jump in too. It’s just a shame for now, it's only supported by the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
