Orcs Must Die! Unchained Beta gets Major Update

Orcs Must Die! Unchained Beta gets Major Update

With over a million downloads in the first three weeks, it's safe to say that the beta testing of Orcs Must Die! Unchained is going pretty well for developer Robot Entertainment. It's probably safe to say that it's not going brilliantly for the Orcs though, who, like the title suggests, are doing a reasonable amount of dying. they now have the weather to contend with as well in the fist major update since the start of the beta.

The Oath of the Arctic Prince update brings with it a new map and a new hero amongst other improvements. There are new fire and ice minions at higher levels which are resistant to their particular element type. As well as the those new minions, there are two new bosses in the form of Snowflake and Iceberg. No prizes for guessing which element they are aligned to. The new map, "Avalanch", is a frijid snow-themed version of the "Surrounded" map and is home to the two new bosses.

In order to take on the cold, players have a new hero that they can utilise. Tundra, a mighty polar bear, may be a cute and cuddle little fuzzball, but don't think that means he couldn't claw your face off if he needed. Even in the hottest of battles he keeps a cool head and strikes back approaching minions and enemy heroes with his sceptre in close quarters.

Alongside the damage he deals, there is also the possibility that with every attack he dishes out, Tundra's opponents will freeze on the spot. As lord over ice and snow, the new hero then gets his money's worth as the damage he deals to frozen enemies is much higher. Even enemies who keep their distance can't rest on their laurels: using Icicle Burst, Tundra can fire three ice projectiles at his opponents. Alongside other abilities such as Wall of Frost, which slows enemies, and Flash Freeze, which freezes minions on the spot, Tundra can use the might of Winter in 'Avalanche' to transform himself into a gigantic snow boulder, allowing him to roll over his opponents.
