Organisational Change Prompts new Combined Company for Playstation Brand at Sony

The PlayStation brand has become a bigger and bigger part of Sony since its introduction in 1995. What was once a joint venture with Nintendo has turned into the biggest single earner in the company's portfolio, with an operating revenue running upwards of $15 billion. It's no surprise then to see the company wanting to have some unity to the brand.

In order to do this, the Japanese giant have created Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC. This new merged company will incorporate the former Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) and Sony Network Entertainment LLC. (SNEI). SCEI were previously in charge of game and hardware development, whilst SNEL dealt with online services such as the PSN store or services like PS Music and PS Vue. With the joint company, everything will be dealt with by the newly formed company.

This new company will be based in San Mateo, California. Heading up operation will be President and Global CEO Andrew House. House was previously President and Group CEO of SCEI so is well versed with the Playstation brand already.
