PlayStation 4 Slim Officially Revealed

PlayStation 4 Slim Officially Revealed

Apart from the big news of the PlayStation 4 Pro being revealed. The current model of the PlayStation 4 is getting a new slimmer version this month. No, this isn't Sony's answer to the Xbox One S, it's Sony's revision and just like the PlayStation 3 before, it's a slimmer, and more power efficient redesign.

The PS4 has been revamped, it's quieter and has been reduced in size by 30%, it's 25% lighter than the original and 16% lighter than the recent all matte model (CUH-1200 series). Not only that, but the whole system is now also more power efficient than before, with the power consumption being cut by more than 34% and 28% compared to the first mode and current models.

The unit itself has been redesigned. It's still got the same connections, but the overall build is sleeker, with trimmed and curved corner and an all matte finish all while keeping the same standout angled body.

Finally, the biggest is inclusion is the support for HDR (High Dynamic Range). It's not just limited to the PlayStation 4 Pro, the slim and previous models will support HDR offering richer colours and true black. That's if you have a compatible TV.

The PS4 Slim arrives the 16th of September 2016 and will be available for £259.99, it will include a 500GB hard drive and the new controller revision. Of course, if you're not a fan of the redesign be on the look out for the original models going on sale for cheaper.
