Playstation VR Price Leaked by Amazon, Sony Deny

With the Oculus Rift taking pre-orders this week, Sony are expected to announce a launch date for the PlayStation VR, their own device which saw a large presence at the PlayStation Experience event last year. The Oculus is set to cost a cool £500 so some potential players were questioning if perhaps Sony's offering might represent better value for money. Unfortunately, it's looking like that may not be the case.

In what appears to be a premature page publish, Amazon Canada have inadvertently leaked what is believed to be the final price of the unit. The blunder was quickly corrected and the erroneous page taken down, but not before a number of quick-witted internet users has taken screenshots of it.

At $1125 Canadian, that would mean the unit would come out more expensive than the Oculus rift if the price was directly converted. At today's rates, the unit is just shy of £550 is the price shown in the screenshot is indeed correct. Of course, this doesn't take into account the fact that a PS4 is still considerably cheaper than the roughly £700 worth of PC that is required to run a Rift.

Update - According to Sony, this was merely a mistake by Amazon and not a leaking of the price. The company have issued a statement denying that the price was an accurate representation and it was merely a placeholder.

Highly doubt it'll be that pricey. I'd imagine it'll be closer to around £400 to be more competitive to the Oculus...which is, let's just say is a disappoint in pricing, but not surprising.
