Pokémon Go Players Have Walked an Incredible Distance

It's a commonly known fact that Pokémon GO has helped a number of people get a little bit more exercise, but have you ever wondered just how much more? No need to wonder and Niantic have told us, and it's a huge number. The community have been racking up those miles, just as predicted pre-launch, although nobody could have predicted the sheer scale.

As of the seventh of December 2016, players of the augmented reality gave have walked 8.7 billion km. To put that in perspective, that's 200,000 trips around the earth! Along the way, 533 million Pokémon have been caught. Granted, the vast majority of those were put into the professor's great mincing machine in order to make candy, but nonetheless, that's an impressive number of pocket monsters being coerced into little balls.
