Popular Malaysian Animated TV Series Gets Official Videogame and Release Date

If you've never heard of Upin & Ipin, we wouldn't judge you; this extremely famous Malaysian series is officially making a debut into the videogame industry, inviting players to take on the role of the titular twins. Developed by Streamline Studios in collaboration with the original creators of the series, Les' Copaque Production, it's bringing the vibrant life of the show to global eyes.

Announced during the Southeast Asia Summer Showcase, the game has a release date a few days away, revealed in a trailer uploaded to the Upin & Ipin Universe YouTube channel. The open-world title will feature over 12 hours of narrative campaign, introducing the culture and intensive world of the series for players to interact with.

  • Explore the seamless open-world Southeast Asian village with handcrafted environments, featuring bustling markets, jungle trails, rivers, treehouses, hidden secrets, and much more.
  • A family-friendly narrative and gameplay built around childhood wonder, featuring no instructions, timers, or fail states.
  • Meet the cast of the Upin & Ipin show, each with their own unique stories, personalities, and challenges to take on.
  • All sorts of activities to partake in — fishing with unique species coming out depending on weather conditions, bug catching in the jungle, tending to your very own garden, and more.
  • Fun mini-games focused on childhood toys, with RC car racing, Gasing Battles with tops including stats, and free-world exploration, giving you the option to go anywhere, so long as you can find the right path.

The world of Upin & Ipin is brought to life through Unreal Engine 5, giving players — both newcomers and veterans of the series — the opportunity to explore the kampung with great graphics.

If you're interested in checking out Upin & Ipin Universe, you can do so through the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, the Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on the 17th of July.
