R-Type Delta: HD Boosted is Back; Check out the Trailer to Learn More About its Digital Launch!

27 years since its 1998 launch on PlayStation, R-Type Delta: HD Boosted will be launching digitally, (with physical editions on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 available) through retro-games publisher, Clear River Games.

Developed by Connection Co. Ltd in association with IREM SOFTWARE ENGINEERING, who were also the developer of the classic title, R-Type Zero: HD Boosted will be available for a hands-on taste at gamescom and PAX West 2025.

For those unfamiliar, R-Type Zero: HD Boosted will be a remastered, reloaded shoot-em-up with updated HD visuals, a new opening cinematic, remixed soundtrack, and a host of quality-of-life features to ensure it runs on modern consoles and PCs.

The story is as follows: taking place in the year 2163, the R9 was recovered following the Earth's triumph over the Bydo Empire. Now, the R9 has been stored in a space fortress which orbits the Earth, and humanity thought they could breathe a sigh of relief. But, when 2164 unidentified objects fall from the sky and electronic weapons systems run amok, everything goes wrong. 

An annihilation unit that was stored beside the R9 goes berserk and descends to the Earth to commence a wave of destruction. With no other choice, the R9 Delta prototype is sent to bring the situation under control. Thus, a new battle against the Bydo commences.

So, looking forward to R-Type Delta: HD Boosted? It will be available digitally on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as PC on 20th November 2025.
