Rockstar Games Founders Reach AIAS Hall of Fame

Rockstar Games Founders Reach AIAS Hall of Fame

Dan and Sam Houser, founders of Rockstar Games and Leslie Benzies, Rockstar North president, are to be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame.

The induction will take place on the 6th Feb and the Hall of Fame awards will be presented by Microsoft's corporate vice president Phil Harrison who worked alongside the studio from its inception. Harrison has nothing but praise for the studio's founders as he said in his statement.

A rare combination of cultural savvy, technical prowess and a deep passion for interactive entertainment has made Rockstar Games a global success story that has helped propel the games medium forward. I am proud and honored to present Leslie, Sam and Dan with this award on behalf of the entire industry.

- Phil Harrison, Microsoft Corporate Vice President

Rockstar Games was founded in 1998 and acquired Rockstar North, known formerly as DMA Design in 1999. The induction into the Hall of Fame is based on an evaluation from the Academy. The Academy is made up of industry leaders who have been instrumental in games development and research.

Past AIAS Hall of Fame recipients include Tim Sweeney, Gabe Newell and Bruce Shelley.

The ceremony is part of the 17th Annual D.I.C.E awards and will be live streamed on Twitch.
