SNES Styled Controller Coming to Switch May Indicate SNES Games Being Released

A user on Resetera named Link83 has posted a link to an FCC filing for a new controller in the shape of an SNES controller.

While the filing doesn’t explicitly state that the product is for the Nintendo Switch, the HAC-042 imprint on the back of the controller reveals that it is in fact hardware for Nintendo’s console/handheld hybrid.

It’s worth noting that a replica NES controller was released for Nintendo Switch alongside NES games being added as part of the online subscription service. Could the same thing be happening again with SNES games?

With the Nintendo Switch online service reaching its one year anniversary in September, it seems like this could be a strong possibility. What’s more is that Nintendo usually host a Direct presentation during the month of September. Could SNES games be a surprise announcement during the Direct? Fingers crossed that this is the case.
