SOEDESCO buys IP of Soccer Legends
Dutch publisher SOEDESCO have purchased the rights to Digital Lightning’s strategy sports sim Soccer Legends. On the third of May, the SOEDESCO management announced that they reached an agreement with the developer Digital Lightning on the sale of the IP of Soccer Legends. This adds another string to the bow of a company that already has a few big games under their belt this year, including Defunct and Adam’s Venture: Origins.
“There is a lot of potential in the Soccer Legends brand”, says Executive Manager Hans van Brakel after closing the deal. “It is quite unique on the market and we are now exploring what possible new paths we can strike with it.” Soccer Legends will be the second in house IP for the publisher after they bought the Adam’s Venture franchise in April 2015. “This deal will open up new perspectives for SOEDESCO and the IP of Soccer Legends”, says van Brakel. “At the moment we are exploring all possible directions we might take with the brand. We will use the coming time to figure out in which way we can integrate Soccer Legends in the SOEDESCO portfolio.”

The game is to Association Football what Blood Bowl is to American Football, although without the Orcs and violence. It takes the best elements of board games and Soccer and meshes them into a turn based game of skill, with an art style designed to evoke memories of ‘90s anime. There’s also a number of Football Manager style elements where you have to manage resources and buildings as well as train your squad to improve their stats. The game is currently in early access and available on Steam.
