Sony Cancels Plans to Attend PAX East Due to Coronavirus

Sony Cancels Plans to Attend PAX East Due to Coronavirus

Just last week, Sony announced its killer lineup for PAX East which was set to include playable demos for upcoming juggernaut titles, such as Final Fantasy VII Remake and The Last of Us Part II. The company has now revealed in an update to the PlayStation.Blog post that it will be backing out of the event due to coronavirus concerns.

The update reads: “Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment made the decision to cancel its participation at PAX East in Boston this year due to increasing concerns related to COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”). We felt this was the safest option as the situation is changing daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our global workforce is our highest concern.”

So far, it seems like Sony is the only company backing out of the event, with the event still set to run from 27th February - 1st March in Boston, Massachusetts.
