Sony removing PlayStation Vita Maps and YouTube Support

Sony removing PlayStation Vita Maps and YouTube Support

Sony have confirmed that an upcoming update will be removing PlayStation Vita Maps and YouTube support.

The March firmware update will be remove the Vita Maps support as well as taking away the ability to use near by basically removing the ability to obtain locations and maps.

YouTube support is also being dropped. The app is no longer available on store for download and if you've got the app installed, you've got till the 20th April to take advantage of YouTube on your VIta, after that you'll have to use the built-in browser to watch YouTube clips.

Sony have released a FAQ in regarding to the Maps and YouTube removable. Although, they haven't exactly provided an explanation to the reason why.

Nonetheless, it is likely that Sony decided that not enough users bothered using the Maps / near application to continue to support it and YouTube might be for the same reason, either that or it's to save money on licensing.
