Sony Reveal Most Downloaded Games of 2015
Sony has announced the full list of most popular games on their digital store over 2015. The charts are split by system and also show which DLC was the most popular. It shows some trends in which games and kinds of games users of each of Sony's current platforms prefer and might give us some hints as to what to expect in the future.
DLC was a very hotly contested area, with the Call of Duty Franchise claiming half of the top ten spots, including the top two. With Destiny taking three of the other spots, that only left third place for The Elder Scrolls Online and its premium accounts followed by fourth place for indie smash-hit Rocket League's Supersonic Fury DLC Pack
A similar story is evident on the PS4 with Destiny:The Taken King and Call of Duty: Black Ops III taking the first and second spot respectively, followed in third by FIFA 16. There were two indie games in the list: Minecraft at number four and Rocket League at seven.

Minecraft was king on the PS3 however, suggesting that perhaps the target audience for Sony's last console is now younger than it was originally. The PS4 number one only reaches five on the PS3 and their number two isn't even on the PS3 list at all. Possibly the lack of single-player or co-op for the last-gen version harmed sales.
Minecraft was also the game people wanted to play most on the move, hitting the peak of the Vita charts as well, with FIFA 15 following close behind. The biggest sweep was in the PSOne and PS2 Classics list where the top four are all Crash Bandicoot games, similar to last year's chart. One of the most popular franchises on the first two consoles, this Marsupial-based platform series hasn't seen an outing for some time, with Naughty Dog busy concentrating on the InFAMOUS series instead. It would be unlikely for this continuing trend to go unnoticed by Sony so may we perhaps see another installment in 2016?
The full list, along with the figures for December, is on Sony's PlayStation Blog. You can check it out here. Just remember if you see an announcement for a new Crash Bandicoot at this year's E3, we called it first.
