Square Enix Give Omikron: The Nomad Soul Away in Tribute to Bowie

Square Enix Give Omikron: The Nomad Soul Away in Tribute to Bowie

David Bowie was a master of art in so many forms. Whilst most of us know him from his illustrious music career, it was one of many strings to the bow of the great polymath. He was one of the most progressive artists of his time. As well as being one of the first musicians to release material in digital download form he was also the first to webcast a concert. As part of his digital adventures, he starred in a videogame in 1999; Omikron: The Nomad Soul.

Written and directed by David Cage, the game showcased the talents of both Davids beautifully. As well helping with the writing and playing two characters in the game, Bowie also recorded most of the soundtrack to the adventure game. It was a success that helped launch Quantic Dream, selling over half a million copies; no mean feat for a debut game in the late nineties!

With the recent tragic passing of the musician, Square Enix, who published the game, are making it available for free on their webstore. The game is available on both the EU and US webstores for no cost at all until the 22nd January while stocks last (US customers will need to enter the code "Omikron" at the checkout.
