Seed Sparkle Lab's debut title, Starsand Island, is preparing to launch in Early Access and ever since the announcement of its release date this February, the title has been blowing up. As the 73rd most-wishlisted title on Steam, it's been one of the most anticipated cosy launches of the year, and it's looking to be a big launch.

Launching on the 11th of February, Starsand Island will be a Steam Early Access title, and we're covering everything you need to know about it. Here are some of the main questions about its state, future, and more.

Why is Starsand Island in Early Access?

Starsand Island's overall framework and gameplay have been established, but Seed Sparkle Lab believes in incorporating the community for the final product. Player involvement will help shape the cosy life simulator into a final version that reflects what players want, allowing players to help shape what's coming.

The Early Access state will offer players the opportunity to refine mechanics, add new content, and help the title grow to their vision.

How Long Will Starsand Island's Early Access Last?

Most titles launching on Steam Early Access tend to have a long plan of several months — sometimes over a year — of gameplay planned. However, Seed Sparkle Lab has pre-established the core framework, and it won't be nearly as long as players have come to expect.

For Starsand Island, the title will be in Early Access for at least four months. This isn't exactly a release window, meaning that it could very well extend past the four-month period, but exact timelines are dependent on development pace and community feedback.

Will Starsand Island Be Priced Differently At Launch?

For those looking to pick up Starsand Island, it's a bit more complicated than the price being increased. The experience has already been confirmed to cost $27.93 (about £20.49) for the standard edition and $41.93 (about £30.71) for the Deluxe Edition. However, these prices are altered for Early Access pricing.

From what it seems, the launch period will offer 30% discount on both editions throughout the duration of the Early Access state, and afterwards, both editions will be increased in price. The team states on the "Coming Soon To Early Access" section of the Steam Store Page that there are no plans to change the price after Early Access, but information about the Early Access discount conflicts with this.

It's likely that Seed Sparkle Lab means that the title will remain the same price on Steam, and it'll use the Steam Discount to add the additional Early Access cut to the price. What we do know is that, according to the pricing reveal, we can expect both editions to cost $39.99 (about £29.29) and $59.99 (about £49.94) after its Early Access state.
