Steam Issues Beta Invites for Home Streaming
Valve Software have sent out the first wave of invites to the beta of Home Streaming, a new technology that will allow machines on the same network to stream games from one to another thus alleviating the need to re-download gigabytes of data when we all buy our new shiny Steam Machines.
Random members of the Homestream community on steampowered.com have been sent invites so they can play with the new tech, find problems, and help Valve fix them with more sent out in successive waves.
SteamOS will work seamlessly as a client for home streaming so even cobbled together boxes built of parts found in the bottom of a dresser drawer will be able to connect over the local network to your power hungry beast of a gaming rig and allow you to access every single title in your library as if it was installed on the Steam Machine sat next to your TV. A godsend for those unfortunate enough to be saddled with a bandwidth caps and their Internet Service Providers alike.
