Steam Link and Controller Not Compatible with Mac
Valve have confirmed that the Steam controller and Link is not currently compatible with Macs. Which is certainly a blow to many Mac gamers out there awaiting the arrival of their new Steam peripherals.
As of now, the Steam Link itself is not compatible with streaming from Macs and the controller, while it does work, doesn't support game pad emulation. It does support keyboard/mouse emulation if opted into the latest Steam Beta Client.
The reason? Well, in an email sent out (courtesy of Eurogamer) Valve apologised and explained that the problem is due to temporary software issues.
Valve promises to resolve the issues with firmware and drivers, hopefully before the official release on November 10th.
For now, Valve will be offering a gift to all Mac gamers affected: the Valve Complete Pack. Which, if you haven't already guessed, contains all of Valve's games. A refund is also available if you want to wait till the Link and Controller are fully functional on Macs.
At least they're honest about the whole thing and apologising before it hits the shelves.

So technically I could pre-order the Mac pack, then cancel it and keep the Valve Complete Pack, which includes future titles...

I'd imagine they'd know if you've signed into Steam on a Mac.
