Steam Link App for iOS Rejected by Apple

We previously reported on the launch of the Steam Link app for Android devices earlier this week. At that time, it seemed like the release of the Apple version was only a formality and should happen any day.

Unfortunately, that day does not seem to be today. Nor any time in the conceivable future.

It was reported that, though Apple had reportedly approved the app, which allows Steam users to stream their Steam games onto their mobile devices, for release on 7th May, 2018 ahead of Valve's announcement of the app two days later.

The next morning, Apple revoked its approval of the app, citing "business conflicts with app guidelines that had allegedly not been realized by the original review team."

An appeal was filed by Valve, stating that there is fundamentally no difference between Steam Link and other apps already in the Apple App Store that allow users to stream their desktops to their devices, but that appeal too was denied, leaving the app blocked from release for iOS devices.

"The team here spent many hours on this project and the approval process, so we're clearly disappointed," Valve wrote in a recent press release, "but we hope Apple will reconsider in the future."
