SteelSeries Introduce Apex M500 Dedicated eSports Keyboard

The tool of one's trade is important. A bad workman can blame his tools and a good one will have an affinity with them. You're never gonna see Usain Bolt running with a pair of Sports Direct own-brand trainers and you're unlikely to see Andy Murray using one of those cheap plastic racquets you can buy at seaside gift shops. So, serious eSports professionals are going to be needing a keyboard designed for their day job. Enter SteelSeries' new Apex M500.

The M500 is not a showpiece of visuals, that's not what it was designed for. With a traditional QWERTY layout there's not much that makes it stand out visually, other than some snazzy blue lighting. But that's not what this keyboard is for. Under that unassuming exterior lies some serious hardware. With Cherry MX Red switches, anti-ghosting technology and a smart cable management system underneath, this is a keyboard designed to perform well above all else.

Cherry MX Red switches feature in this gaming-grade mechanical keyboard.

“The APEX M500 is my new keyboard of choice. It’s a tank and lives up to the quality of the 6Gv2, the mechanical keyboard that I’ve been using for a year now,” says Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling, Carry for Evil Geniuses' Dota 2 team. “This keyboard is everything I think a majority of players look for when it comes to quality and feel, it’s going to be a product that will be used at the pro level for a long, long time.”

The keyboard will be available soon, priced at £94.99 in the UK and €119.99 in Europe. As with all of the companies keyboard, it comes with the SteelSeries Engine Software, allowing customisations of the keys and Macros. You can find out more information and pre-order on SteelSeries' website.
