The Internet Clubs Together to Celebrate Developer's 85th Birthday With Mass Downloads

Rod Fisher is 85 years old and has been developing games since the days of the Amiga. He's a multi-instrumentalist who creates all original music for his games, which he releases for free on his website. It was his 85th birthday yesterday and his grandson Tom decided to do something a little special, by asking users on Reddit to download his Grandpa's games.

Presumably neither Tom nor the octogenarian himself, could have predicted the mass of support from the Reddit community however, as just a few hours after the posting, the small time developer's website went down under the sheer volume of traffic. Tom then mirrored the games on his own website, and that promptly fell over too!

Both sites are now happily functioning again, but with 369 comments at the tie of writing in just 14 hours, the original post is spreading like wildfire, hopefully giving an elder gentleman a very happy birthday. There's now talk of a Reddit AMA to come soon with the newly created oldest cyber-celeb around
