THQ Nordic Acquires Multiple Mobile Franchises, Hints at Switch Support
Did you know that THQ Nordic currently own the IP for approximately 87% of all videogames ever conceived? Even ones that don't actually exist because we made them up in the pub on a warm Sunday evening by scrawling on the back of a beer mat.
That first paragraph may not be entirely true, but it certainly is true that THQ Nordic have been on something of a buying spree over 2016, acquiring a number of franchises, and releasing a fair few new games from franchises they already own.
To add to those IPs already in their possession, THQ Nordic have announced they've done a deal with Enigma Software Productions S.L. and Mobile Gaming Ltd.
The deal sees the European company acquire the rights to Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy) from Mobile Gaming Studios Ltd., as well as War Leaders: Clash of Nations and Legends of War from Enigma Software Productions S.L.

Lars Wingefors, founder and Group CEO, told us: “These are not financially material acquisitions, but due to our love for these types of games they were natural acquisition targets that add up to our portfolio. Moreover, we also got a lot of messages from fans that encouraged us to add them. Among these titles, Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy) is very well suited for the Nintendo audience – which we love to support. We are excited for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo’s new platform, and already have two other projects in development for it.”
Sphinx (and the Cursed Mummy) is a third person action-adventure video game inspired by the mythology of Ancient Egypt. It was originally released for Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube.
War Leaders: Clash of Nations is a turn-based global strategy game bundled with a real-time tactics game mode for PC.

Legends of War is a turn-based strategy video game series franchise created in 2010. It was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable.
The company advised us that more information regarding the Nintendo Switch development projects will be released at a later stage. With a huge portfolio of games to choose from now, it was always likely we were going to see the THQ name on the Switch, but this is the first official confirmation of a possible title so far. As always, keep an eye on GameGrin.com for more news on Nintendo's next device as it surfaces.
