THQ Nordic Re-Release Imperium Galactica I and II
Nearly 20 years on from the original release of the first title, the Imperium Galactica series is back. The titles are widely regarded as some of the forerunners to the modern 4X strategy game and fans have been awaiting a sequel for some time. Although that elusive third game has yet to happen, the original titles are getting a bit of spit and polish from THQ Nordic, the new rights holders to the games.
Both parts of the game are being released digitally on all major digital distribution platforms. The first game is a simple DOSbox emulation like many of GOG’s titles, but the second is a completely reworked version, native to modern versions of windows and with a number of enhancements such as support for modern screen sizes and resolutions and some enhanced graphical effects.
For those not familiar with the series, we’ll let THQ Nordic themselves explain what to expect: “Imperium Galactica features an expansive and unique Sci-fi universe with multiple playable species. Take your empire in your hands and guide it into the future. Use intrigue and spying to weaken your enemies and strengthen yourself or research and build the most powerful military force in the universe to crush whoever would oppose you. Massive battles, universe spanning empires, 3 playable campaigns and countless possibilities through custom scenarios insure you always have something to come back to. Take control, conquer the universe, and lead your species to ultimate domination… for the Imperium.”
