Traitors In Salem – The Next Evolution of Salem Announced

Social deduction games, like Mafia or Among Us, are a common fixture of parties, with everyone trying to figure out what roles everyone else has been assigned. Now, nearly a decade after the release of their own hit social deduction game, Town of Salem, BlankMediaGames has announced the development of a new Salem title, Traitors in Salem. Set some time after Town of SalemTraitors involves a new, yet familiar circumstance. With the Mafia and the Coven gone, Traitors in Salem pits the town against the titular traitors, with no room for neutrality in-between.

Described as "the next evolution in the Salem Universe," Traitors promises to maintain all of the social deduction fun from the original, only now allowing a free range of movement around the town of Salem. Players will also be able to interact more directly with each other and the environment.

Traitors in Salem will feature dozens of roles, both returning roles, such as the Witch, the Executioner, and the Jester, as well as new roles. However, all returning Neutral Roles have been folded into the new Traitors group. While many of these roles are beloved for the ways in which they can complicate a game, BlankMediaGames was concerned about how many of these roles could wind up as the sole tie-breaking, deciding vote and felt that those circumstances could make a variety of game outcomes "un-fun". Just remember that, like the original Town of Salem, these roles will be randomly distributed at the start of each game, so you won't just be able to pick the winning side.

But beyond more roles and greater motion and interactivity, Traitors in Salem also promises "new Chaos Game Modes" that would have otherwise been impossible to include in BlankMediaGames' original title. The company's plans include but are not limited to Capture the Flag and Cops and Robbers.

BlankMediaGames promises to reveal more information on this new title as their development continues. But, if you're itching to play Traitors in Salem, the game is scheduled to begin alpha testing by Summer 2021's end.
