Ubisoft set to Cause Divisions Between Gamers
Ubisoft have confirmed the details of their exclusivity deal with Microsoft, and it’s not great news for players of Tom Clancy’s The Division on the PS4 and PC. The three expansions for the game are all due to be released on all platforms, however the first two are both exclusive to the Xbox One for the first 30 days of their life, giving players on Microsoft’s console a clear month-long head start versus their PC and PS4 brethren.
There are three paid DLC packs coming overall, all available as part of the game’s season pass. The first will be Underground, coming in June, the second is Survival, arriving this summer, and the winter will bring the third and final expansion, Last Stand. This third pack will be released simultaneously on all three platforms.
Ubisoft haven’t kept this exclusivity deal a complete secret. Although this is the first time the exact details have been revealed, the fact that Xbox One players would be getting some degree of earlier access was revealed as far back as E3 in 2014, but it wasn’t stated at that time exactly what form this would take. Ubisoft finally spilled the beans this week, when talking to tech website Polygon.
